… Sod…
GOD.
Dr Cook’s piece is wisdom. Inevitably
we must all return to sod (the ground or earth) from where we were made, and
answer to the Maker. The prophet Amos calls us to prepare to meet our God (4.
12). This is how to prepare:
1. Surrender
your life to God. Those who do are no longer in control of their lives. They hand
over what plans they have for themselves to God, and willingly take up God’s
own for them. You can know God’ plan for your life as you read His word, the
Bible, as you pray, as you attend and take part in Christian fellowships, and
as you follow and obey Him in simple child-like faith. The exhortations you
hear or read, the encouragement you receive, the godly advice of a neighbor and
other edification are all God’s ways of reaching out to you. Do not neglect
them.
2. Believe
on the Lord Jesus Christ as your Saviour and Lord. It’s only Christ who can
bring you in peace before God. Faith in God minus Christ equals zero. It means
nothing. Faith must be properly channeled for it to be meaningful. The proper
channel is Christ (John 14. 6).
3. Discharge
the duties committed to you. There is accountability before God at the end of
all else in life (Ecclesiastes 12. 13 – 14;
Romans 14. 10; 2nd
Corinthians 5. 10).
Peace be with you!
