COVID-19 IN NIGERIA: WE SAY NO TO CHINA INTERVENTION

Can the world ever trust China again? Would Nigeria romance with the prime suspect of the current global crisis (COVID-19)? How can we? In 2012 China handed over a fully funded and built headquarters building in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to the African Union (AU). A great gesture of friendship and solidarity, perhaps. But not long after, it was alleged to have been bugged, leaking vital, confidential information of the Union to China in faraway Shanghai! True or false, the Union had to change its computer servers to check the alleged mischief. But issues of health are different. Misfiring means losing a life, or even lives. On a national scale, that can amount to thousands. Painful loss. Avoidable loss. The authorities must tread with caution here. Face masks, test kits, ventilators, vaccine and doctors - all from or of China. Hmmmm, caution we must exercise. Until now we have been using our indigenous doctors, and they have been doing well. WHY CHANGE THE WINNING TEAM? Please let us DISCARD this idea of Chinese intervention. WE DON'T NEED IT. Let us stay safe Stay indigenous. Stay Nigerian We shall overcome

My wife used new car to sow seed for her pastor – Husband

In spite of a passionate plea by a housewife to the court to save her 18-year-old marriage, an Agege Customary Court in Lagos granted the prayers of her 50-year-old husband and businessman, Kingsley Onyenobi, and severed the relationship.
The estranged husband said he bought a brand new car for her only for her to give out the car to her church pastor on the pretext of “sowing seed”.
The court ruled that allegations of infidelity and threat to life brought against the woman by the husband were weighty enough to warrant the dissolution of the marriage.

Relationship matters

Life revolves on relationship. We would sooner or later discover that whatever achievement we have in life came through with the aid of some other. No person is an island. God created us to appreciate and be of help to others. Do not therefore distance yourself from people. You need others just as much as they need you. This is where the principle of love comes in. Without genuine love for another we can't possibly appreciate, much more do anything reasonable to help them. The Bible therefore admonishes us to "let love be genuine" (Rom. 12: 9). This is the effective antidote for spite and hatred.
We need this in the family, in the Church, at work and at play, indeed, everywhere. Love and respect are the twin virtues that build relationship. May the Lord give us grace to that end.
Happy New Month and God bless you.

Make the most of your day

Your daily relationship matters. Every new day is a gift from God to us. In it lie lots of opportunities to be managed by us. You are responsible for how you manage yours. Managing yourself and the opportunities of the day are inevitable part of life. We can't escape them. That is so because we are alive. You must live. You must make the best of the day. How do we do this?
First, begin

I have learnt not to look down on a fellow mortal, except I’m admiring his shoes — Jonathan

Remarks by His Excellency, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
The Southern Christian Leadership Conference,
Atlanta, on Thursday 14th, January, 2016.
Protocols
I thank the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, for inviting and honoring me today, and especially so, as this invitation comes right about the period when the world stands still in recognition of the selfless sacrifice of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
I have learnt not to look up to any man, except he is taller than I, or to look down on a fellow mortal, except I am admiring his shoes. When we think of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), it is virtually impossible to separate this worthy body from its founder, the late great Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, or from epoch making landmark events of the American Civil Rights movement.

Nigerian Beauty Queen resigns over alleged sexual harassment

Is there any behind-the-scene matter in beauty pageants? Or what could make a winner relinquish her crown as Miss Cynthia Ugbah, winner of Queen of Trust International 2015, recently did over an alleged claim of sexual harassment by the organizers of the pageant.

According to her resignation letter obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Abuja Cynthia said her decision was informed “after much thought and careful consideration.’’
“I am convinced that my decision is in our mutual best interest and for the sake of peace.

“I’m sorry that circumstances at your pageant leave me with no other alternative than to resign but I thank you for whatever support I did receive during my time with your organization.
“I have already returned the crown and all other materials.’’
Cynthia alleged that since her resignation, the organizers have been

Your labour shall be rewarded - Esesien Ita

It has been given to humans from creation to labour. In five days God created all things but humans. Creation was not complete until God had brought in one who could ‘till the ground’ (Genesis 2: 5). God planted a garden in Eden where He put Adam to take care of it. God took the initiative in labour, and by that taught us the dignity of labour. Labour is not intended to be punishment but an occupation to keep all living active in creation. It is part of God’s programme of replenishing and subduing the earth. Thus, all creation, ants inclusive, participate in the divine agenda. There is an end in labour, and that is productivity. Labour is not merely for the sake of it. We expect good result from our work. The fruit of our labour contributes to increase in the system. This should be the proper mindset at work.

How to Build Your Self Confidence - Esesien Ita

Self confidence is trust in one’s ability. As a young believer, I considered this an anathema. How could any Christian ever think of trusting in him or herself, instead of trusting in the Lord? They must be filled with pride, I thought, who think like that! But a Christian counsellor put me through. I have since come to know that belief in oneself is not an affront to faith in the Lord. In fact, faith in oneself and faith in the Lord are synergistic. They complement each other. When people have faith in themselves, they can easily release hitherto innate powers to the achieving of their goals.

15 courageous steps to success - Julius Babatunde

The hard things are the easiest things to avoid, to excuse away, to pretend like they don’t apply to you. but they are the things makes you. The simple truth about how ordinary people accomplish outrageous feats of success, is that they do the hard things. That the smarter, the wealthier, and more qualified people don’t have the courage to do.
You have to do the hard things, the things that no one else is doing, the things that scare you. The things that make you wonder how much longer you can hold on. Those are the things that define you. Those are the things that make the difference between living a life of mediocrity or outrageous success.
Here are 15 courageous steps you have to take, to achieve the success of your dream.
1.     You have to take the step you’re afraid to take.

What is your personal growth and development plan? - Usiere Uko

What is your personal growth and development plan

Author and personal finance coach, Usiere Uko, writes on the importance of having clear life goals
We all have desires, hopes and dreams. Very often, we leave it at the level of wishful thinking. There is no firm decision to go for it, backed by a plan to achieve it. Beyond a vague notion of making enough money to meet our needs, very few aim higher. An average employee or businessman does the same thing over and over again without a plan to step up their game. They attempt to rise higher using yesterday’s skill set. When things do not seem to improve, they work harder, pray harder and look for help outside. More often than not, there is no clear goal. Survival is the name of the game, but there is no serious thought towards the purpose for survival.

Success is within you! - Esesien Ita

What would you do if told Mr President was waiting for you outside your room, in fact, at the door? I guess you would drop everything else and rush out to meet him. That’s a normal reaction at the thought of someone or something important. Success is important. We all love it. We crave it. Nobody hates it. But do you know that success is right there with you? It is right within you.
Success is in the individual, not in the university, someone wrote. It was a stunning revelation when I read it. I started to figure out other examples. Success is in the individual not in money. It is in the individual, not in where they live. Success is in the individual, not in assets. It is in the individual, not in their background. It is in the individual, not in the type of work they do.
We probably know people who have gone to school or who have money or who own a lot of assets, who come from enviable background, and are gainfully employed, but who are

Beyond Medicine: Baby born pregnant!

A baby born in Hong Kong was pregnant with her own siblings at the time of her birth, according to a new report of the infant’s case, Live Science reports
The baby’s condition, known as fetus-in-fetus, is incredibly rare, occurring in only about 1 in every 500,000 births. It’s not clear exactly why it happens.
“Weird things happen early, early in the pregnancy that we just don’t understand,” said Dr. Draion Burch, an obstetrician and gynecologist in Pittsburgh, who goes by Dr. Drai. “This is one of those medical mysteries.”

MEDICINE ADVANCES TO A BABY TO THREE PARENTS!

We know that for every child there are two parents – a father and a mother. Well, modern Medicine is moving from there to making a child from three parents – a father and two mothers. The idea came about in the minds of medical experts as a solution to a disease of the mitochondria that does not allow children of mothers who suffer it to survive. Mitochondria are the energy producing organelles of living cells.
In the procedure, the DNA of the woman with mitochondrial disease with that of her husband is combined with that of the donor woman who has healthy mitochondria. This results in a baby with 0.1% of their DNA from the donor woman. This will remain a permanent change passed down the child’s generations. The procedure is said to be a modified version of In Vivo Fertilization (IVF).

HOW TO BUILD A RESPECTABLE SELF IMAGE - Esesien Ita

Self image is a person’s outlook. It could be bright or gloomy, confident or unsure, trusting or suspicious. The picture we present to the outside world is what they judge us with. There is need therefore to build a respectable self image. We recommend the following:

1.      Have a healthy conception of yourself, neither proud nor timid, neither domineering nor obsequious. A person’s self image is more often a product of their imagination. You are really what you think you are. But when people believe themselves to be what they are not, then they are only deluded. A 6 year old who says, “I am the President of my country” is deluded. But if that child should say, “I will be the President of my country”, then that child has an imagination that can produce a good self image if well nurtured. A good conception of oneself is essential to building a respectable self image.

2.      Expect the best. Much has been and is still being said about

GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU

“Consider how the lilies grow… If that is how God clothes
the grass of the field…how much more will He clothe you?”
                                   Luke 12: 27 – 28
Anxiety is an abnormal accompaniment of life. It is often there and abnormally so. When we take an examination, we get anxious to know the result. If we or our loved ones get sick we become anxious about the outcome. If we marry and the children are not forthcoming as expected, we lose our peace. If employers are retrenching, we become anxious about our fate. If a neighbour passes through an unpleasant experience, it haunts us in our dream in the night. If we are getting near retirement, we become apprehensive about the future. Anxiety is an unwelcome part of life. It is next-of-kin to fear. But it can be overcome.
