COVID-19 IN NIGERIA: WE SAY NO TO CHINA INTERVENTION

Can the world ever trust China again? Would Nigeria romance with the prime suspect of the current global crisis (COVID-19)? How can we? In 2012 China handed over a fully funded and built headquarters building in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to the African Union (AU). A great gesture of friendship and solidarity, perhaps. But not long after, it was alleged to have been bugged, leaking vital, confidential information of the Union to China in faraway Shanghai! True or false, the Union had to change its computer servers to check the alleged mischief. But issues of health are different. Misfiring means losing a life, or even lives. On a national scale, that can amount to thousands. Painful loss. Avoidable loss. The authorities must tread with caution here. Face masks, test kits, ventilators, vaccine and doctors - all from or of China. Hmmmm, caution we must exercise. Until now we have been using our indigenous doctors, and they have been doing well. WHY CHANGE THE WINNING TEAM? Please let us DISCARD this idea of Chinese intervention. WE DON'T NEED IT. Let us stay safe Stay indigenous. Stay Nigerian We shall overcome

Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano, has promised to implement a four-pillar development blueprint.
According to him, the agenda include
provision of power, security, agriculture, trade, commerce and industrialisation as well as oil and gas.
Speaking shortly after he was sworn in by the state chief judge, Justice Peter Umeadi, Obiano also promised that his administration would re-model Awka, the state capital, to transform it into a modern state capital.
He further pledged to pursue the implementation of the structural plan for Onitsha and Nnewi to ensure that the cities are developed into modern cities.
He appealed to the people of the state, especially his opponents during the governorship election held on November 16, last year, Senator Chris Nwabueze Ngige of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Comrade Tony Nwoye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to support his administration in order to move the state to a higher pedestal. He added that his immediate predecessor had already established the state on a solid development foundation.
President Goodluck Jonathan, who was represented at the ceremony held at the popular Dr Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, the state capital by his senior special assistant on inter-party affairs, Senator Ben Obi, wished the new Anambra State governor a successful tenure in office, and urged him to emulate his immediate predecessor, Mr Peter Obi whom he said he would soon appoint into the Federal Executive Council because of his enormous achievements while serving as governor.
Earlier in a farewell speech, former Governor Obi thanked the people of the state for supporting his administration, and pleaded with them to give Governor Obiano the necessary support to enable him to succeed.
He urged Governor Obiano to always focus on building a better future for the children of the state, pointing out that he does not owe him anything for becoming governor, except to better the lot of children in the state.
Eminent sons and daughters of the state including politicians from different political parties such as the South East zonal vice-chairman of the APC, Senator Annie Okonkwo, Senator Joy Emordi of the PDP, financier of the PDP governorship candidate, Comrade Tony Nwoye, Prince Arthur Eze attended the ceremony.
