COVID-19 IN NIGERIA: WE SAY NO TO CHINA INTERVENTION

Can the world ever trust China again? Would Nigeria romance with the prime suspect of the current global crisis (COVID-19)? How can we? In 2012 China handed over a fully funded and built headquarters building in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to the African Union (AU). A great gesture of friendship and solidarity, perhaps. But not long after, it was alleged to have been bugged, leaking vital, confidential information of the Union to China in faraway Shanghai! True or false, the Union had to change its computer servers to check the alleged mischief. But issues of health are different. Misfiring means losing a life, or even lives. On a national scale, that can amount to thousands. Painful loss. Avoidable loss. The authorities must tread with caution here. Face masks, test kits, ventilators, vaccine and doctors - all from or of China. Hmmmm, caution we must exercise. Until now we have been using our indigenous doctors, and they have been doing well. WHY CHANGE THE WINNING TEAM? Please let us DISCARD this idea of Chinese intervention. WE DON'T NEED IT. Let us stay safe Stay indigenous. Stay Nigerian We shall overcome

We Want To Achieve Golden Eaglets Feat – Flamingoes

Nigeria U-17 women national team, the Flamingoes

The assistant captain of the Nigeria U17 women national team Uchenna Kanu is eyeing emulating the achievement of Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets which took the world by storm and won the FIFA U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates last year November. Kanu is of the belief that the Flamingoes can do same in the U-17 women World Cup in Costa Rica.

The team is presently in Faro, Portugal undergoing build up and the players says the quality of training the team is receiving coupled with its confidence and cooperation within camp is enough to enhance its success at the World Cup.
“I believe we can do it this year with the hard work of everyone in training, the mood and performance in friendly matches and also with God on our side, we will bring home the World Cup. If our boys can bring the World Cup to Nigeria, we can also do it because what a man
can do, a woman can do also. I don’t think any team can stop us from bringing the trophy to
Nigeria,” Uche revealed in a statement released by the team’s media officer.
The Pelican Stars forward however said support from Nigerians will go a long way in Costa Rica.
In the same vein, Flamingoes’ defender Mary Ologbosere assured Nigeria will bring home the cup come April 4. With no African country yet to reach the semi-finals of the U-17 World
Cup, the Ibom Angels player believes the country has what it takes to win the World Cup.
“Yes, we can win the World Cup – I believe with me and my teammates we can achieve that -I’m very sure, we can bring back home the trophy to Nigeria. We have a good defense, midfield and goalkeeper and for that I think the team will do better than others. I’m sure we will do better with our quality attackers in the team – I’m very confident that we will bring back the cup to Nigeria.”
Flamingoes departs Lisbon, Portugal today for the World Cup in Costa Rica which begins Saturday, March 15.
