COVID-19 IN NIGERIA: WE SAY NO TO CHINA INTERVENTION

Can the world ever trust China again? Would Nigeria romance with the prime suspect of the current global crisis (COVID-19)? How can we? In 2012 China handed over a fully funded and built headquarters building in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to the African Union (AU). A great gesture of friendship and solidarity, perhaps. But not long after, it was alleged to have been bugged, leaking vital, confidential information of the Union to China in faraway Shanghai! True or false, the Union had to change its computer servers to check the alleged mischief. But issues of health are different. Misfiring means losing a life, or even lives. On a national scale, that can amount to thousands. Painful loss. Avoidable loss. The authorities must tread with caution here. Face masks, test kits, ventilators, vaccine and doctors - all from or of China. Hmmmm, caution we must exercise. Until now we have been using our indigenous doctors, and they have been doing well. WHY CHANGE THE WINNING TEAM? Please let us DISCARD this idea of Chinese intervention. WE DON'T NEED IT. Let us stay safe Stay indigenous. Stay Nigerian We shall overcome

Stop Reckless Billing Of Electricity Customers, NERC Orders Discos

  Mr-Sam-Amadi

Electricity Distribution Companies (Discos) have been ordered by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to immediately end reckless billing of consumers across the country.
The directive was handed down yesterday at the April CEOs meeting in Abuja by the Chairman of NERC, Dr. Sam Amadi.
Briefing journalist at the end of the monthly meeting with generation, distribution and transmission companies, Amadi stated that that the Discos were still engaging in arbitrary billing to which they must put an end.
He stated that it is their responsibility to provide customers with pre-paid meters, adding that in the absence of meters, the Discos must ensure that estimated billing follow the guidelines provided by the NERC.
“We have made it very clear that it is the responsibility of the Discos to meter the customers even though we have time gap to bridge the metering deficit but we want to see real action on that.
We expect to see a robust metering plan but we have also insisted that in the interim before everybody is metered, the reckless estimation must stop immediately,” Amadi said.
“What is going on now really in some places is not estimation, it is arbitral because estimation is based on some formula. We have reiterated that they should go back to that methodology but ultimately the solution is fast tracking metering,” he added.
While disclosing that all consultations on the interim rule that would govern the Nigeria Electricity Supply Industry (NESI), have been concluded, Amadi said the commission is now ready to sign the interim rules possibly by next week.
