COVID-19 IN NIGERIA: WE SAY NO TO CHINA INTERVENTION

Can the world ever trust China again? Would Nigeria romance with the prime suspect of the current global crisis (COVID-19)? How can we? In 2012 China handed over a fully funded and built headquarters building in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to the African Union (AU). A great gesture of friendship and solidarity, perhaps. But not long after, it was alleged to have been bugged, leaking vital, confidential information of the Union to China in faraway Shanghai! True or false, the Union had to change its computer servers to check the alleged mischief. But issues of health are different. Misfiring means losing a life, or even lives. On a national scale, that can amount to thousands. Painful loss. Avoidable loss. The authorities must tread with caution here. Face masks, test kits, ventilators, vaccine and doctors - all from or of China. Hmmmm, caution we must exercise. Until now we have been using our indigenous doctors, and they have been doing well. WHY CHANGE THE WINNING TEAM? Please let us DISCARD this idea of Chinese intervention. WE DON'T NEED IT. Let us stay safe Stay indigenous. Stay Nigerian We shall overcome

Trump recognizes Jerusalem as capital of Israel

Hours before a momentous announcement recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, US President Donald Trump said Wednesday December 6, 2017 the move was “long overdue.”
“Many presidents have said they want to do something and they didn’t do it. Whether it’s courage or they changed their mind, I can’t tell you,” Trump said, portraying himself as daring to fulfill a promise that previous presidents have shied away from.
“I think it’s long overdue,” he said.
Trump is expected to upend decades of US policy later Wednesday by stating that the holy city — part of which is claimed by Palestinians — rightfully belongs to Israel.

President Donald Trump has announced the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
“This is nothing more or less than the recognition of reality,” Trump said in a speech announcing the United States’ view about the contentious move on Wednesday.
He reiterated that the United States was still committed to the Middle East peace process and that it would support the two-state solution.
He expressed confidence that disagreements over Jerusalem would be resolved.
He said Vice President Pence would travel to Jerusalem in days coming, and that the United States Embassy would be relocated from Tel-Aviv toJerusalem.
The announcement has been preceded by warnings of a violent response in the Muslim world and demonstrators in the Gaza Strip burning American flags.
