The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji  Sa’ad Abubakar,  has warned about another future Boko Haram because of the over 50,000 orphaned youths in the North.

Speaking at a security meeting in Kaduna on Thursday, the monarch also condemned the setting up of Operation Shege-Ka-Fasa by the Coalition of Northern Groups in the region, calling on northern elders to caution them and  “don’t allow the youths to take over leadership from you”.

He said if nothing was done about the orphans, they would turn out to be worse than Boko Haram if northern governors failed to act.

He blamed the northern elite for the socio-political challenges facing the region.

The CNGs unveiled the symbol of the security outfit in Kaduna on Wednesday.

The Sultan said, said, “Governors must see that they do more to address insecurity, just imagine that there are over 50,000 orphans. They will be worst than Boko Haram if allowed to grow without proper care.

As today marks the 200th day that Leah Sharibu was abducted by Boko Haram from her school in Dapchi, Yobe State, a UK member of Parliament, Thomas Brake has called for her release.

Brake made the call as he participated in the 200-hour #Freeleah campaign held in front of the Nigerian High Commission in London.

Brake wrote on his Twitter handle @Thomasbrake: “Outside the Nigerian High Commission launching the #freeleah campaign. Leah, who is still held captive by Boko Haram, because she refused to recant her Christian faith, has been held for 198 days.”

NIGERIA’s unfeasible security architecture is undergoing a severe test of wills. Essentially, the Commissioner of Police in Cross River State, Jimoh Ozi-Oleh, got himself into an awful tangle when he declared two new security/safety outfits established by Governor Ben Ayade “illegal”. Ayade set up the Homeland Security and Green Police to arrest escalating criminality and the deteriorating sanitation profile of the state. The looming face-off depicts the hypocrisy underpinning federalism in Nigeria.

Frankly, it is bad politics for the police to single out the state for intimidation as it moves to secure its domain. Several states in the North have provocatively established the Islamic religious police, Hisbah, yet no federal finger has been lifted against them. Hisbah is the divinely-sanctioned duty of the ruler (government) to intervene and coercively “enjoining good and forbidding wrong” in order to keep everything in order, according to Sharia (Islamic law).

But, because of Nigeria’s grossly flawed federalism, the attempt by Cross River State to protect its own citizens and track sanitation is facing a threat. This is double standard. What is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.

Troops invade shrine of N’Delta militants, ‘arrest chief priest’

Troops of Operation DELTA SAFE, a military outfit in the Niger Delta, have arrested the chief priest of Bayelsa Strike Force, a militant group in Cross River state.
Olaolu Daudu, spokesman of the outfit, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday.
He said the shrine located in Ikot Offing Ambai in Akpabuyo local government area of the state, was destroyed.
Daudu said a militant was also killed, while ammunition were recovered.

Gunmen abduct Redeemed Church pastor in church

There was panic at a parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God at Santos bus stop in the Isawo, Ikorodu, Lagos State, on Sunday after  some gunmen walked in and abducted the pastor during the service.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the pastor, identified only as Bajomo, was whisked away by the gunmen, who came to the church as if they were new members.

Our correspondent learnt that the pastor, who was abducted around 7am, was the first to reach the parish and was preparing for a workers’ meeting which usually preceded the Sunday service.

New militant group, Niger Delta Avengers threaten to bomb more oil installations

A new new militant group, Niger Delta Avengers, NDA, which claimed responsibility for the recent Forcados 48-inch Export Pipeline explosion and Wednesday’s blowing up of the Chevron Valve Platform in Abiteye, both in Delta State, has threatened to bomb all oil installations in the Gbaramatu hometown of former General Officer Commanding, GOC, Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger-Delta, MEND, Government Ekpemupolo, aka Tompolo.
The NDA said it will fulfill its threat any time soon, if Tompolo does not apologise within three days, for asking the affected serving oil companies to go about their normal operations, particularly the repair of the Forcados 48-inch pipeline which is very key to the nation’s economic stability.

We are concerned citizens of Nigeria. Our attention has been drawn to a recent news statement by the Department of State Services (DSS) as widely published by a section of the media alleging the discovery by the DSS of a mass grave in Abia State.
The statement further claimed the discovery of decomposing bodies of five Fulani men in a shallow grave who were allegedly killed and buried by elements affiliated to IPOB.

Alleged abductor of 14-year-old minor, Yunusa, to face criminal charges

The Assistant Police Commissioner in charge of Zone 1 Police Headquarters, Kano, Shuaibu Gambo, on Tuesday said Yunusa Yellow, the alleged abductor of a Bayelsa teenager, Ese Oruru, would be charged to court to face criminal charges.
Mr. Yunusa and Miss Oruru were transported to the Police Force Headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.
“She would be handed over to police commissioner in charge of Bayelsa State, who in return will hand her to her family,” he said.
According to him, the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, would address a press conference on the matter, saying the IGP would give details of the case to the press.
Mr. Shuaibu, however, denied that Miss Oruru was taken to hospital for check-up.

All those that are attempting to distort the narrative about the tragic plight of Miss Ese Oruru are evil and we commit them to God’s judgement. The facts are as follows. She is 14 years old and not 18 and she was abducted from her home.
 She did not leave her home freely or of her own volition. She was cruelly and wickedly carried away and stolen from her parents, family and loved ones and forcefully taken by complete strangers to a distant land. This was a land that she had never seen or been before and which was on the other side of the country.
 The truth is that this is not a love story about two inseparable young people: it is rather a sad and tragic tale about pedophilia, child abduction, kidnapping, human trafficking, slavery, rape, impunity, wickedness, religious bigotry and ritual sex. Worse still it is an unfolding drama at the end of which Emir Sanusi Lamido may well have a case to answer.
 The truth is that that little girl would have been raped over and over again and she may well have Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), Vesicovaginal fistula (VVF) or some other strange sexual disease by now. She may also be pregnant. Instead of sympathizing with her and considering the fact that she may never be the same again in view of the physical and mental torture and trauma that she has been subjected to over the last few months, some misguided souls and shameless commentators have the temerity to come to social media and say that she was old enough to “get it” whilst others say that she ”loved it” and ”wanted it”.
I am utterly disgusted and appalled by these sentiments. Where is the humanity of those that speak and think like this? Where is their compassion and where is their soul?
May God judge them and may their own infant daughters be abducted, forcefully Islamised, raped, enslaved and kept against their will as a sex slave in an Emir’s palace in the same way that Ese was.

Finally, Police hand over abducted minor, Ese Oruru to parents

Police authorities in Abuja yesterday night said Ese Oruru, freed Monday, will now be officially handed over to her mother, Mrs. Oruru, today.
14 years old Ese Rita Oruru was brought to Police headquarters at Louis Edet House at about 12. 55pm amid tight police protection.
 Her dad, Mr Charles Oruru, however disclosed that he has concluded plans to seek spiritual assistance from Lagos cleric, Pastor T.B. Joshua, founder of The Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN).
 Ese would have been handed over to her mother yesterday, but for inability of the woman to arrive Abuja by 8.00p.m. last night as she travelled from Yenagoa, Bayelsa State by road. She was immediately ushered into the office of the Force Public Relations Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Olabisi Kolawole, for what sources said was a debriefing exercise.

 Also arrested and brought to Abuja by a Special Police team from Zone 1 headquarters, Kano, led by an Assistant Commissioner of Police, was the abductor of Ese, Yunusa, alias Yellow. Both the abductor and the abductee were escorted by three representatives of the Emir of Kano to brief the police authorities about the roles the Emir and Kano Emirate Council played

Terrorists now disguise as fruits, vegetable vendors – DHQ cautions Nigerians

The Nigerian Defence Headquarters has said the Boko Haram terrorists now hide explosive devices in fruits and vegetables which they hawk in wheel barrows in markets and crowded places in the Northeast.

Special promotion for soldiers fighting Boko Haram – Chief of Army Staff

The Nigerian Army on Wednesday announced a special promotion for all soldiers involved in liberating Baga in Borno from Boko Haram insurgents.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Kenneth Minimah, announced the promotion while addressing the soldiers during an official visit to Baga in Kukawa Local Government Area.
Minimah said the promotion was to reward the soldiers for their gallant effort in flushing out the insurgents. He added that soldiers who died in the battle with the insurgents would also be promoted posthumously.

Czech arms dealer to sell weapons to Nigeria

Czech arms dealer Excalibur Group will sell weapons to Nigeria’s government forces for fighting with the militant group Boko Haram, local media reported on Friday.
Excalibur Group’s spokesman Andrej Cirtek confirmed the weapons include modernised Soviet-made tanks T-72 M1 and 16 other vehicles, armoured infantry fighting vehicles BVP and rocket launchers and the destination for those weapons is an African country, the Prague Post reported.
